The value of the Hungarian coffee market increased by twenty percent in 2022, but the volume decreased
Due to the significant increase in the price of raw materials, the value of the Hungarian retail coffee market increased by 20 percent to HUF 82.8 billion last year, but its volume decreased by 11 percent to 18.2 thousand tons, said Gábor Árok, head of the coffee business at Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, on Thursday in Budapest. at a press conference.
Presenting the data of market researcher Nielsen, he said that the turnover of ground coffee, which is the largest segment in the Hungarian market, decreased by 15 percent to 7.9 thousand tons last year, and the sales volume increased by 22 percent to HUF 28.9 billion.
The price of coffee rose in a significant part due to the increase in the price of the raw material and the development of the economic environment, as a result of which consumers bought less.
From the point of view of the brands represented by Coca-Cola HBC Hungary – Costa Coffee and Caffe Vergnano – the market for coffee beans and Nespresso compatible capsules is the most important

The value of the bean coffee market increased by 28 percent to HUF 15.4 billion, with a 3 percent decrease in turnover. The market for Nespresso compatible capsules increased from 501,000 kilograms to 503,000 kilograms in 2022 compared to 2021.
