The Coop Store Chain is twenty-years-old
The Coop's success is a Hungarian success. The chain could become a dominant player in the Hungarian economy and could effectively picked to compete with the big international chains – the Minister of National Economy of the Coop supermarket chain said at the 20th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday in Budapest.

Varga Mihály Minister for National Economy added that there is a great need for those companies that like Coop, not just operate on the basis of equity and profit, but also operating as a socially responsible company as well. The store network is 100 percent Hungarian-owned and employs more than 30 thousand employees – including 27 thousand women – and distributing more than 80 percent of the Hungarian-made products. The Coop provides a livelihood to 700 Hungarian SMEs and provides business opportunities to 3000 Hungarian technology suppliers – the Minister stressed. (MTI)
