Hungaricool winners: Top culinary products on the shelves of Interspar stores
In the following we present the 10 winners from the 269 entries in the Hungaricool product innovation competition organised by SPAR with professional support from the Agricultural Marketing Centre.
Heart of Homokhátság Social Cooperative – Legjava sauces and jams
Three products, Legjava Black pepper and mint strawberry sauce, Legjava seven spices pepper sauce and Legjava sparkling wine and peach jam won the competition. The products are made of high-quality fruits and vegetables grown by farmers in Hungary’s Homokhátság region, which are hand-picked and carefully selected.

Shrub Hungary Kft. – SHRUBBIE soft drinks
The company’s mildly carbonated soft drinks are 100-pecent natural, they are free from preservatives, refreshing and healthy. SHRUBBIEs are available in quince-lavender, sour cherry-mint, raspberry-rose hip and cannabis-ginger flavour combinations. The products only contain fruit sugar.

Prizma-Bautim Kft. – Spreadable fats
The Bőközi Legendás brand uses long-forgotten recipes and traditional production methods. Products are made exclusively from natural ingredients. The two winners are called Heritage of Ancestors and Uncle Józsi’s spicy fat – the former is fat with onion and meat bits, while the latter is sausage fat with smoked sausage bits.

Attila Fejes – Onion base
Onion base is fried onion cream with vegetables, and it can be used in cooking in many ways. It can be added to the food in any phase of preparation. The product only contains vegetable ingredients, and it is free from lactose, gluten, sugar, flavour enhancers and preservatives.

Mendula Bakery Kft. – Mendula Granolas
Mendula Bakery’s granolas are breakfast products fried crispy wit oatmeal, oilseeds and natural sweeteners. They are special because they contain organic gluten-free oatmeal. The products are vegan and lactose-free. They are sweetened with apple sugar and apple juice concentrate.

Hétvezér-Product Kft. – Sausage and salami specialties
The company makes traditional smoked cured meat products, sausages and salamis from the meat of Hungarian grey cattle, buffalo, horse, mangalica, donkey and deer. These home-made type products are prepared from the company’s own recipe. A salami and two sausages won the competition.

Vagamary Kft. – Chilled desserts
Health-conscious confectionery Vagamary makes gluten-, lactose-, milk- and added sugar-free cakes and desserts. They won the competition with a cup dessert: Vagamary prepares Somló plate, Rákóczi plate, Raspberry cottage cheese cup and Strawberry cottage cheese cup desserts in glass jars.

Caro Ferina Vadhúsfeldolgozó Kft. – Patés
‘Patés from the hunting lodge’ is an artisan paté range made of game meat. The meat comes exclusively from game hunted in Hungary. None of the products contain additives or preservatives. Four versions are available, deer paté with forest mushroom, hot Hungarian-style paté, wild boar meat paté and wild boar rillettes.

Gábor Piros – Smoked quail eggs
These smoked quail eggs come from Galyatető. Thanks to the place’s special climate, the eggs can be cold-smoked throughout the year. The products is free from preservatives, additives and flavouring agents, but it has a long shelf life thanks to the smoking and the marination in salty water.

Anjuna Ice Pops Kft. – Ice creams
Three different Anjuna ice creams won the competition. All of them are made from natural ingredients only, and they contain plant-based milk. The ice creams are milk- and gluten-free, and contain no added sugar. They are available in three flavours, Sicilian pistachio (made with rice milk), Ivory Coast coconut (contains coconut milk) and Mango-passion fruit. //
