Hungarian online retail’s value exceeds 1.2 billion euros
While sales increased by 6 percent in traditional retail, online retail sales soared by 18 percent in Hungary last year, passing the HUF 360-billion threshold. From total sales the share of e-commerce was 4.3 percent. 2017 was a better year for 83 percent of Hungary’s online retailers than 2016. The month before Christmas, this is also the period when the Black Friday takes place, played a great role in this good performance. For instance more than one fifth of the 4th quarter’s total online spending, HUF 27 billion was realised on Black Friday. A survey by GKI Digital has revealed that marketing activity is of key importance in this segment too. //
