You bring, you take
Rakun Box Community was established a year and a half ago and its goal is to replace single-use boxes with a box sharing system in food home delivery and takeaway. Our magazine interviewed co-founder Dr Sarolta Horváth.
At the moment 101 restaurants accept Rakun boxes all over the country, and we are present in 14 cities. Rakun has 2,400 registered users who generate about 50 daily box uses on average.
Those consumers who wish to join the Rakun box sharing system only need to subscribe in the Rakun Box Community app. For a monthly subscription fee they get unlimited box use from member restaurants. Restaurants have to pay HUF 100/box to us every month (but not more than HUF 5,000 in total). It is them who must wash the boxes, in compliance with HACCP rules.
For the time being the system works with 3,600 boxes. Our recommendation to new member restaurants is to start with 40 boxes.
We would like Rakun to work with 4-5 restaurants in every county seat, and to have 200 box accepting places at national level. Five hundred daily uses would be great, and partnering with one of the big food delivery companies could be a milestone.
