Bulk shopping costs HUF 50,000-80,000 more per month
Food inflation is already at 35.2 percent in Hungary. According to a recent study, an average family spends HUF 50,000-80,000 more on shopping than it did a year ago.
According to a survey conducted by Pulzus at the request of napi.hu, the extra amount spent on food for a family of four can be close to HUF 100,000, which represents an additional burden that is difficult to manage in the context of Hungarian wage conditions.
As it turned out, many customers no longer stick to the quality and brand they were used to, but the so-called downsizing has started, when private label products come to the fore and they look more for sales.
The relative majority of respondents to the current survey, 35 percent, said that their food expenses per person increased by between 10,000 and 20,000 forints in a year, which means 40,000 to 80,000 forints for a family of four.
Napi.hu also presents the different trends in consumer habits in the table.
