The Complaints Act has entered into force: from now on, 65,000 companies in Budapest must provide the opportunity to report abuse
Pursuant to the Complaints Act adopted by the Parliament this summer, businesses employing at least 50 people were obliged to create their own internal abuse reporting system by December 17, 2023. The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) has developed a system that creates the opportunity for businesses to comply with legal requirements, thus taking a significant administrative burden off the shoulders of the organizations concerned.
XXV. of 2023 on complaints, reports in the public interest, and rules related to reporting abuses. according to the law, businesses must allow employees and partners of businesses and institutions to report actions they believe to be illegal or indicative of abuse, even anonymously. The notification can be made by any active and former, as well as being selected, employed, contractual partner, volunteer and intern, or active and former, as well as being selected member of the owner, management, executive and supervisory board.
Based on the law, the internal abuse reporting system at the employer can be operated by an impartial person or organizational unit designated for this purpose, but a whistleblower protection lawyer or other external organization can also be trusted to operate the system.
