Huge Hungarian success at the World Ice Cream Championship
At the 10th anniversary Gelato World Cup in Rimini, Italy, the Hungarian team made up of Renáta Somogyi, István Gaborecz, Sándor Fodor, Zoltán Gácsi, and Krisztián Füredi won a bronze medal, thus surpassing their European championship bronze medal last year.
In the competition, the Hungarian team managed to get ahead of the second-placed South Korean team, while defending champion Italy won the gold medal again. The bronze medal at last year’s European Championship gave the Hungarians the opportunity to advance to the World Championship finals, where they ultimately performed excellently.
The competition production of the Hungarian team was related to the theme of Alice in Wonderland, and all their competition tasks evoked the atmosphere of this fairy tale. Competitors of the Gelato World Cup had to complete a number of challenges, including a decorated ice cream jar, an ice cream cake, an ice cream sundae dessert, three types of warm appetizers combined with gourmet salty ice cream, an ice sculpture, a chocolate artistic decoration, a sculpture made using barbecue and caramel, and a milkshake made with a “surprise” ingredient. and they had to create a water-based ice cream.
