Raw milk’s price grew by three quarters in one year
n September 2022 raw milk’s price was up 46% in the European Union and 33% in the USA if compared with September 2021.
Buyers had to pay 3% more for cheddar cheese in the world market on the 45th week of 2022; butter in bulk cost 8% less, whole powdered milk became 16% less expensive and skimmed powdered milk’s price dropped 17%.
Data from the Market Price Information System (PÁIR) of the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI) reveals: in Hungary raw milk’s production price was HUF 204.77/kg in October 2022. Raw milk was 6% more expensive on average if in compared with September 2022. Compared with October 2021, the price of raw milk surged by 76%. Raw milk’s export price was HUF 235.99/kg, 7% more than in the previous month and 74% above the October 2021 level; its export price was 15% higher than the average production price. According to AKI PÁIR, raw milk export was down 14% in October 2022 if compared with the same month of the previous year. //
