ALDI raises wages for the third time, 1,000 new jobs at the company
ALDI Hungary has decided on its third wage increase within 12 months. The company’s employees in sales, logistics and office positions – with a few exceptions – will uniformly receive another 10% wage increase from January 1, 2023. With this, the department store chain increased its wages by 37% in some areas in just 12 months, so the real wages of its employees also increased significantly. In the field of logistics, the starting salary exceeds twice the minimum wage. ALDI has created far more than planned, nearly 1,000 new jobs in Hungary in less than a year, thus providing more than 6,000 people with a predictable career and a stable livelihood even in a high inflation environment.
For ALDI Hungary, the satisfaction of both customers and employees is extremely important. The company believes that dedicated employees can create value for consumers. Customers are happy to visit ALDI stores if, in addition to low prices, they receive high-quality service every single time, and the company achieves this quality of service with motivated employees.
The goal of the supermarket chain is to offer a competitive salary compared to other sectors from day one, and it strives to maintain or increase the real value of its salaries for its existing employees with continuous salary improvements. ALDI has already raised its wages twice in 2022: in January, it decided on a uniform 8% salary increase for all employees, and in January, it implemented a salary increase of between 8-19%, depending on the position. The current wage increase – with the exception of a few positions – is uniformly 10% and will take effect on January 1, 2023.
