Food inflation in Ukraine will soon reach 40 percent, but there is no shortage of products
Apart from a few weeks, in the last ten months, it was not typical that the shelves of the stores were completely empty in Ukraine. People’s wallets were all the more empty. According to expert Oleg Pendzin, inflation will be 30 percent in the country, and according to him, the real income of Ukrainians will decrease by almost a quarter in 2022.

There is no shortage of products, but people have no money
According to the data of the Ukrainian State Statistical Service, since the beginning of the year, the price of meat has increased by 50 percent, and baked goods are becoming more expensive by 10 percent every month. In this case, the price increase is not caused by the lack of grain, but by the increase in the value of energy carriers. You also have to pay more for milk. A 10 percent increase in the price of dairy products is forecast for the autumn period, and a further 20-25 percent increase in the winter months. But the price of fruits (+62.6%), vegetables (78.8%), and eggs (+81.4%) jumped even more shockingly.
The price of eggs currently ranges between HUF 70-100. Previously, one piece cost HUF 30-40. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the decrease in supply due to the war influenced the price increase, as poultry factories in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Herszon counties were completely shut down or restricted in their operations. However, the experts claim that there is no question of a shortage of eggs and there is no need to fear it – infostart.hu writes in its article about the Ukrainian food situation.
