A kilo of bread will soon cost 1,000 HUF
Bakers are preparing to raise the price of bread and all their other products, because in addition to raw materials, energy is also rapidly becoming more expensive. In a few weeks, even the cheapest kilo of bread will be more expensive than a thousand forints, the better quality ones will cost even more – writes Telex.
The economic operation of bakeries is hindered by more and more difficulties, and smaller companies find it difficult to compete. Meanwhile, the rise of artisanal bakeries shows that customers’ tastes have changed in recent years, fewer and fewer people are looking for mass products from large companies.
Recently, the supplier has raised the price of flour for the second time – the master baker of Újszentiván, a village of 2,000 people near Szeged, told the Telex correspondent. Three weeks ago, the price of the most important raw material became 23 percent, and since then another 25 percent, and another price increase is expected even in September. From autumn, the other raw materials, margarine, cheese, butter and meat, which the master baker, who has been working in his profession for thirty years, uses for the various kifliks, pizzas and scones, will be more expensive.
