The globalisation of retail trade
A study prepared by the Consumer Goods Forum and Planet Retail claims that retail chains are expanding at a breakneck speed. The 100 biggest chains are present in more countries than ever before and in 2015 these companies entered 27 new markets. At the moment the most popular regions are Africa and the Middle East, and the best-performing retail chains in these regions have been Spar and Circle K. Retailers focus more on regions than on global expansion, e.g. a good example of this is Tesco.
