Ocean Cleanup and Coca-Cola reach global agreement to clean up rivers and oceans
As the first global partner, The Coca-Cola Company joined the river water program of The Ocean Cleanup, a nonprofit organization that protects the purity of natural waters. The unique collaboration between the international corporation and the technology association was brought about by a commitment to a common goal: to clean up the Earth’s oceans from plastic pollution so that waste is already caught in rivers.
Under the partnership agreement, together with the Rotterdam-based Foundation, they undertake to build purification systems that absorb floating waste in rivers before they spill into the seas. Over the next year and a half, waste collection systems will be installed on 15 rivers around the world, including The Ocean Cleanup InterceptorTM, a semi-automatic solar-powered river purifier.
