GKI: Modestly, but business and consumer expectations also improved in December
According to a survey conducted by GKI Gazdaságkutató – with the support of the EU – the rise in the business confidence index is solely the result of a significant improvement in industrial expectations, as the other sectors have become more or less pessimistic.
The consumer confidence index is rising, albeit minimally, for the second month running. At the same time, the population is still more pessimistic than in the spring of 2020, during the panic caused by the Covid-19 epidemic. The opinion of companies and the population about the employment and inflation situation did not change significantly in December, but the future situation of the Hungarian economy was seen by businesses and consumers as worse than in November.
