GFM: the number of registered job seekers has never been so low
Despite the war times, in the last 30 years, the number of registered job seekers in Hungary has never been as low as in May this year, the Ministry of Economic Development (GFM) told MTI on Friday.
In the fifth month of the year, only 228,600 were registered, a new all-time low. The most favorable data so far was observed in June 2021, which was further improved by 2,000 in May, and compared to the beginning of 2010, the number of registered jobseekers decreased by more than 430,000, they wrote in the announcement based on the latest data from the National Employment Service.
Even in an economic situation affected by war and sanctions, the government protects families and jobs, prevents recession and breaks down sanctioned inflation. Economic protection measures are working, inflation peaked and started to moderate, the number of jobseekers continued to decrease.
Since 2010, the government has been working on achieving full employment and building a work-based economy. Compared to 2010, there are 1 million more people working in Hungary today, and the number of employed people exceeds 4.7 million.
As part of the Workforce Support for Enterprises and Work Experience Support programs launched in December last year, more than 20,000 jobseekers have already received applications worth HUF 20 billion. The programs help the jobseekers to find a job as soon as possible, more than 16 thousand people have already found a job with the help of the support programs – read the ministry’s announcement.
