Gastronomic competitions announced in the Food of Hungary program

Gastronomic competitions, including the Szamos Plate Dessert Competition and the Food of Agrotourism Competition, were announced on Monday in the Food of Hungary program.

Hungary is a dessert superpower – emphasized Bence Rétvári, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, at a press conference in Budapest on Monday presenting the competitions. He added: according to the rankings, we are a country with great traditions and values ​​in the fields of gastronomy, sweets and desserts. The State Secretary pointed out: such competitions bring about the new sweets that will be known worldwide in ten, twenty or fifty years. He emphasized: this competition is also important because new and new Hungarian sweets and Hungarian dishes are made from Hungarian ingredients, according to Hungarian traditions, yet in accordance with the expectations of the modern age and current trends.

The competitions are announced by the Étrend Hungarian Chefs Association (Chef Club), the Szolnok Vocational Training Center, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the cooperation of the State Secretariat for National Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The theme of the Szamos Mátyás Plate Dessert Competition is the fairy-tale world of desserts, and entries are invited until February 28

The contestants must use Naszálytej Tarka or Magic Milk cream, Szatmári Malom flours and millet, as well as a chosen pálinka or distillate and a domestic organic product – István Asztalos, president of the Étrend Hungarian Chefs Association, explained the details.

The Hungarian Drink Cocktail Competition is being held for the second time

The commercial distillery pálinka competition can be entered with clear and matured fruit pálinkas until February 28. The deadline for the private distillers’ pálinka competition is also February 28th, and the competition is open exclusively to private distillers who can enter with their own fruit, their own equipment, and their own property. The Agrotourism Food call is open to all producers, farmers, family or other businesses committed to local ingredients and short supply chains until February 28th.
