Lidl’s dynamic growth continues
Judit Tőzsér, Lidl’s head of company communication told our magazine that last year the company reacted to the problems caused by the pandemic in many ways: with plexiglass walls at the checkout, social distancing floor stickers and a new product, quick-frozen baked goods.
In 2020 the number of Hungarian Lidl’s suppliers and products both increased. Lidl purchased Hungarian-made groceries from suppliers for 22 percent more in the last financial year. Plus 665 products of 170 domestic suppliers are already available in the Lidl stores of 26 countries.
This year many novelties and new product innovations are waiting for Lidl customers, and the discounter also carries on with its supplier-finder Lidl Academy Plus programme. At the moment the retailer is building its fourth logistics centre in Ecser, which will create 400 new jobs from the 1,000 new positions Lidl plans to open in 2021. //
