”Let’s unite for Liza!” – A national campaign has been launched for the life of a 3-year-old girl battling a brain tumor.
A family and community of supporters are raising money for the treatment of Liza, a young child battling a rare, aggressive brain tumor.
Four months ago, Liza, who is only 3 years old, was diagnosed with a malignant, inoperable brain tumor. Diffuse midline glioma is an extremely rare and aggressive type of tumor that is currently not treatable in Hungary. In order for Liza to survive, targeted foreign therapy and an extremely expensive, innovative cell therapy are needed – that is why the unprecedented collaboration was launched, which has now taken on national proportions.
A completely healthy beginning – then everything changed from one moment to the next
Liza was born completely healthy along with her twin brother, and their childhood was characterized by play, movement and laughter. They were rarely sick, and there was nothing to indicate that a serious diagnosis would soon overshadow the family’s life.
In August 2025, when Liza was 2.5 years old, she developed facial paralysis. Based on the initial tests, they said that the symptom might be temporary, but her condition did not improve, and in fact, her right eye turned inward, which required urgent examination. Following the MRI scan, a biopsy was performed, and the histological results confirmed the parents’ greatest fear: an extremely rare, malignant brain tumor was found in little Liza.
Following the procedure, Liza suffered left-sided paralysis, which was partially rehabilitated, but the paralysis of the right facial nerve and the lack of eye movement still persist.
30 radiation treatments, 4 chemotherapy – and it’s still not over
In recent months, Liza has undergone 30 radiation treatments and 4 chemotherapy cycles. The family is struggling beyond their strength, while medical opinions have become increasingly clear: the treatments so far are not enough.
In recent days, Liza’s Hungarian doctor and specialists from a Swiss children’s clinic held a joint meeting. According to the unanimous professional opinion, Liza needs a more effective, targeted chemotherapy treatment specifically for her genetic mutation, which is not registered in Hungary.
The treating physician has already started the licensing process so that Liza can receive the new therapy in the next monthly dose. However, it is not yet known whether the drug will be free of charge if licensed or whether the family will have to finance it, which represents a huge extra burden.
The real chance: CAR-T cell therapy
According to experts, the real chance may be a combination treatment, including CAR-T cell therapy. This is one of the most modern, personalized anti-tumor procedures, which is currently used abroad in the most effective way.
However, the cost of this is approximately 300 million forints – an incomprehensible amount for the family.
“The amount is huge, and our time is getting shorter. We know that we cannot do this alone. Liza has a twin sister, with whom they used to do everything together. Today, our everyday lives are full of challenges, but Liza proves every day how much strength she has, she is a real little hero. She endures things with a smile that no adult could endure.”
“We can never repay the help we have received so far or thank you in words. The cooperation we have received for Liza from all sides gives us parents hope and strength. We believe that she will succeed – because it must succeed.”
National collaboration: famous people, communities, charity events for Liza
The collection was initially started through a foundation, but since then, together with friends and helpers, a separate website has been created, as well as a Facebook page, where Liza’s story and the progress of the collection can be continuously followed.

To support the collection more charity events are also being organized, one of the highlights of which will be held in Isaszeg on January 24, 2026!

The charitable event was also joined by well-known people – including: Attila Till, Anita Ábel, Zsuzsa Demcsák, Regina Dukai, Zita Debreczeni, Fanni Weisz, Viktor Király, Zoltán Jákob, András Szabó (Csuti) – who, in addition to donating, used the power of their social media pages to spread the family’s message to a wider audience request.
In recent times, sports clubs, communities and private individuals have also shown exemplary cooperation for Liza’s recovery.
The Zalaegerszegi TE football team, with the special donation of Alen Skirbek, put up for auction a jersey signed by the team, which ultimately found a buyer for a significant amount. The money raised was donated in its entirety to Liza’s medical treatment.
Every year, the Cselszik women’s hobby football team selects a noble cause that they jointly support. This year, by unanimous decision, the collected funds were donated to Liza’s medical treatment, thus proving that team spirit also creates value off the field.
The range of community initiatives was also enriched by the donation of Laura Zólyomi, who organized a charity sound bath for Liza.
On January 17th, a full-day, multisensory room program will be organized, the entire proceeds of which will be donated to Liza’s recovery.
Date: January 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During the program, families can come to play, relax, and recharge with their children.45-minute multisensory room prize: 5,000 HUF
The organizers’ goal is not only to raise funds, but also to get Liza’s story to as many people as possible – because often a single share can save a life.
“Some things you can’t do alone”
The family believes that everything happens for a reason, and that they didn’t have to face this struggle by chance. But they also know: there are things that can only be done together.
The collaboration for Liza is not just a collection – it is faith in human goodness, hope in life, and a little girl’s chance to continue playing happily with her twin sister until the end of time.
