Dietary supplements for men have been withdrawn from circulation by Nébih
Another two dietary supplements for men did not comply with the regulations, as the products contained active pharmaceutical ingredients. Nébih obliged the distributors of Dr. Hard and Superhero dietary supplement capsules to recall the products and withdraw them from circulation. Product details are available on the infringement list.
Based on the tests of the National Pharmaceutical and Food Health Institute, the following active ingredients were detected in the products:
• Dr. Hard – dietary supplement capsule for men containing plant extracts
4 capsules/box (Best before date: 02/04/2024)
Detected active ingredient: Sildenafil, Vardenafil
• Superhero dietary supplement capsule 2.4 g (Best before date: August 15, 2024)
Detected active ingredient: Sildenafil, Paracetamol
Product details are available on the infringement list
The specialists checked 3 boxes of the Dr. Hard product during the laboratory tests. Sildenafil was detected in two of them, and Vardenafil in the third. In order to eliminate the food safety threat, Nébih ordered – regardless of the shelf life – the withdrawal of the products from the market, their recall from consumers, and prohibited their further placing on the market with immediate effect. It is important to know that the active substances Sildenafil and Vardenafil are compounds used in the therapy of erectile dysfunction due to their inhibitory effect on the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5). Paracetamol is an active ingredient with pain-relieving and antipyretic effects, which is presumably used in the product to relieve headaches caused by compounds used in the therapy of erectile dysfunction, which is a common side effect of this type of active ingredient.
Dietary supplements are considered food according to both the European Union and Hungarian regulations
The use of the medicinal active ingredient in food is prohibited, it is allowed only in medicines produced under authorized and supervised conditions, and the release of preparations containing this active ingredient in Hungary is subject to a medical prescription. The products are considered fake, because according to the composition information on their packaging, they contain only herbal active ingredients. If they are consumed, customers can count on a serious risk of health damage.
