The Kék Bolygó Foundation supports sustainability startups
The second round of the Kék Bolygó Climate Protection Foundation’s development program supporting startups has ended, start-ups promoting environmental sustainability with their activities presented their companies and market solutions to the professional jury and investors on Monday evening in Budapest.
This year, the foundation launched its business development program called .wave to help the development of innovative startups fighting climate change. The program supported five Hungarian companies in the spring, and in the second semester they were already open to businesses from the Carpathian Basin region, Gabriella Sódar, the foundation’s business development manager, told MTI. The special feature of the program is that only start-ups whose activities are related to environmental sustainability can enter. They are looking for companies that are not in the idea phase, but that are already somewhat ahead of it – he pointed out.
Seven participants completed the three-month intensive development in the second round
Among them are enterprises dealing with energy, food supply, waste recycling and micromobility. Among the companies were five Hungarian and two Austrian startups – explained the business development manager. He added: .wawe wants to play a regional central role in business development in the area of sustainability. In the framework of the free program, the participants received professional, business, financial and legal advice tailored to the business, as well as mentoring, knowledge that supports the market access of their solutions, improves their financeability, and they were also able to establish relationships with experts.
Gabriella Sódar said: the participants do not receive direct financial support within the framework of the program, but the foundation also operates two venture capital funds in order to financially support the implementation of the best innovations. In addition, during the program, the participants came into contact with foreign and domestic investors, so businesses can find opportunities – he emphasized.
