Survey: Only 43 percent of Hungarians consume legumes
Globally and in Hungary, people consume very few legumes. Only 43 percent of Hungarians ranking them in the top three of their preferred vegetables, Bonduelle said on the basis of its own survey on the occasion of Wednesday’s World Legume Day.
In a statement sent to MTI, the company cites FAO (World Food and Agriculture Organization) data for 2019 that the global average daily consumption of 21 grams of legumes per capita is 6 percent of daily protein intake and 3 percent of daily energy intake. The rate has stagnated over the past three decades. (MTI)
