This is why Hungarians go to restaurants in winter and spend so much – a representative survey
The majority of Hungarians go to a restaurant at least once in winter, which is mostly remembered by the tasty food, the friendly location, the polite service and a special dish – a joint representative survey by A Kert Bisztró and market researcher Opinio shows. At this time, the guests mainly come for family and friend gatherings, dates and company dinners, where they usually eat between HUF 5,000 and HUF 10,000 per person.
More than half (57%) of respondents between the ages of 18 and 59 asked in the research nationwide, and two-thirds (67%) of those living in Budapest dine at a restaurant at least once during the winter season. Every fourth woman (24%) and every third man (36%) go to a restaurant once a month. A quarter of restaurant visitors (27%) spend less than HUF 5,000, and nearly half of them (47%) spend between HUF 5,000 and HUF 10,000 per person for the entire meal, while one in four guests (26%) pays even more for tasty dishes.
In winter, the restaurant is primarily a venue for family gatherings, meetings with friends, dates and year-end company dinners. In cold weather, domestic guests are clearly fans of meat dishes, so they prefer dishes made from chicken, beef, lamb or duck (81%), followed by game, fish and pasta dishes in almost the same proportion. According to the respondents, such an occasion is mostly made by tasty, high-quality dishes (75%), a demanding, friendly environment (51%), polite service (42%), and an exciting, special dish that has never been tasted before (40%) memorable.
