This is what happened in 2018
In December Ferenc Horváth, president of the Guild of Hungarian Confectioners summarised their most important results in 2018
The building of the guild’s headquarters will soon be completed. As for training and education work, on the trade days members introduce interesting technologies, ingredients and recipes, and these events are now also the forum for acquiring new information about the latest trends and regulatory changes. At Denis Matyasy’s master courses member had the chance to learn about the latest trends in France. The guild successfully participated in grant programmes. With the Sweets Without Borders programme the goal was to introduce the typical sweets of ethnic groups living in the Carpathian Basin. The sweeTEN project aims at nurturing young talent. In 2018 the guild organised an ice cream competition and the Cake of Hungary contest. Members participated in international competitions, such as the ice cream contests organised by Gelato World Tour, or the competitions in Luxembourg and Erfurt. In Hungary confectioners were there at the Farsang cup and the Pelikán cup competitions.
Lajosmizse is the host of the annual Croquant Festival. Last year the guild also published a book about Hungarian confectioneries and cafés, with help from Éva Vojtek. It is really good news that thanks to the guild’s mobility programmes, the guild is known in more and more countries. Partnership programmes have been established with these countries, within the framework of which foreign experts are invited to Hungary and Hungarian ones go abroad to give courses.
