TeSzedd has started! waste collection action week
For the eleventh time this year, TeSzedd started on Earth Day! – The campaign for a clean Hungary is voluntary, the largest voluntary waste collection program in the country – announced the Secretary of State responsible for the environment and circular economy of the Ministry of Energy (ME) on Saturday in Budapest.
The aim of the program, which runs until the end of the sustainability theme week, on April 28, is to draw attention to the importance of environmental protection, said Anikó Raisz. In response to MTI’s question, he said that by the April 11 deadline, around 3,000 volunteer groups – schools, groups of friends and workplace communities – had applied from all over the country. EM and ÉMI Nonprofit Kft., which coordinates the program, will take care of the necessary tools, gloves, bags and waste removal, he added.
The Secretary of State pointed out that only waste that can be safely picked up by hand can be collected, other waste can be reported via the Waste Radar application.
In previous years, the TeSzedd! within the framework of the movement, around two thousand tons of illegal waste were collected, and they expect the same this year in one week. The aim of the program is to call for prevention. The government has tightened the legislation related to illegal waste dumping, but further tightening is expected, he said. Anikó Raisz thanked the participating groups and TeSzedd! at the place where the movement started, the XII. the help of dozens of volunteers appearing in the forested area near Csillebérc in the district. Zoltán Pokorni, the XII. also the ruling party mayor of the district. He said that since its inception, schools, kindergartens and workplace communities have been encouraged to participate in TeSzedd! in program; in addition, 8-10 waste collection campaigns are launched in the district every year.
