More and more pubs close in Britain
In the last thirty years, the number of pubs in Britain has fallen by a quarter, so there are only 50,000 pubs in Great Britain – according to the latest data of the British beer and pub associations. All this is interesting because at the same time Britain’s population grew by 17 percent.
In the latest issue of Economist, the British federation’s figures say that there are only 50,800 pubs in Britain in 2015, while in 1982 the number of the pubs was 67,800. According to the summary of Economist, this can be explained by a change in consumer habits. Beer consumption reached the peak in 1979, then stagnated for a long time and then falling since 2003. Meanwhile, more and more people switched to wine from the traditional beer, and others just drank less than before. (index.hu)
