More and more Hungarian private label products are on international SPAR shelves
In 2024, SPAR Hungary exported five times more products, totaling 3.3 thousand tons, to three neighboring countries compared to 2023. Customers can now find products worth approximately 1.3 billion forints, mostly from domestic suppliers, in hundreds of SPAR stores in Austria, Croatia and Slovenia.
“Our company considers it important to support Hungarian suppliers’ access to the market, not only in our country, but also internationally. We are proud that SPAR Hungary was able to increase the export of its own products and products from domestic suppliers to Austrian, Croatian and Slovenian SPAR organizations last year,”
– explained Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.
SPAR Hungary exports its own branded Mirelit vegetables, cheeses, jams, ice creams, canned vegetables, soft drinks and beers, as well as various pet foods to Croatia and Slovenia through its own plants and its supplier partners. In addition, the company delivered a significant amount of its own branded, health-conscious plant-based products to the Slovenian SPAR organization last year, and to Austria, it delivered S-BUDGET canned mushrooms and S-BUDGET pepper salami to SPAR Austria on behalf of SPAR Austria.
In mid-March, S-BUDGET white beans, S-BUDGET red beans, S-BUDGET bulgur and couscous products were shipped, and in addition to these, SPAR Hungary’s parent company, SPAR Austria, announced its demand for additional food products for this year.
The domestically produced S-BUDGET red beans, bulgur and couscous products are available in 350 stores in Austria, and S-BUDGET white beans and chickpeas in 1,100 stores. SPAR private label products are available in 113 stores in Slovenia and 142 stores in Croatia.
The total export volume in 2024 was 3,376 tonnes, with a value of over HUF 1.3 billion. Some of the private label products are exported from SPAR Hungary’s warehouse in Üllő, but some products are shipped directly from suppliers to the international market.
