The relationship with Hungarian farmers abroad is getting closer and closer
The Carpathian Basin Unity Forum is a celebration that shows what a huge driving force the regional cooperation proposed by the Hungarians represents. The government also pays attention to national unity and Hungarians abroad in its agricultural policy. We have a lively and increasingly close relationship with foreign farmers, village farmers, and winemakers. We share what we have so that there is more, and we testify to mutual solidarity and the power of cooperation, said Sándor Farkas, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, on Monday in Budapest.
The state secretary added that the unification of Hungarians across the border started in 2010, and in 2011 it was stated in the Basic Law that Hungary bears responsibility for the Hungarian communities across the border. With naturalization, Hungarians across the border could also become part of the Hungarian nation in the sense of public law, and hundreds of thousands of Hungarians took advantage of this opportunity. Sándor Farkas explained that one of the most successful and effective programs is the Carpathian Basin Farmers Program, which could start in foreign regions from 2018. Through the village farmers, a living relationship was established with farmers from abroad. More and more of the farmers are starting to realize the importance of this, as they turn to the village farmers in increasing numbers for help, be it of a professional or financial nature. The state secretary explained that the Schams Ferenc Plan was launched in 2022 in order to promote the organized cooperation of wineries operating in the Carpathian Basin and to renew the historic wine regions of the Carpathian Basin. Support programs were also launched to strengthen, develop and cooperate with agricultural vocational training institutions. We consider the support of secondary and higher level agricultural education in Hungarian to be a high priority area, he added.
