Hungarian companies are increasingly forward-looking, but their motivation is different from that of companies with a foreign background
Four fifths of Hungarian industrial companies use the help of a sustainability specialist in order to achieve their green goals. And the activities that strengthen sustainability are mostly focused on waste management (95%), energy efficiency (85%) and water management (78%), according to recent research by Siemens Zrt.
The surveyed companies mostly pay attention to environmentally conscious operations and take their share of social responsibility, but at the same time they indicate the lack of resources as the main hindering factor: almost half of them (45%) have already applied for external support in order to achieve sustainability goals. Sustainability is therefore an increasingly important issue among domestic companies, but their underlying motivation is completely different from the approach of foreign-owned companies.
Siemens Zrt. carried out comprehensive research (in-depth interviews and questionnaires) among domestic industrial companies with 20 employees or over HUF 1 billion in sales, which revealed that sustainability now plays a prominent role in the life of Hungarian companies and they try to keep it in mind in their daily operations. future awareness. The larger a company carves out of the market, the more typical it is that it invests serious energy in environmental awareness and social responsibility, and organizes its related activities along a central strategy. Overall, 54 percent of the participants in the research have a sustainability system/policy and 80 percent of them work with a full-time/part-time (17%) or external (30%) expert, or entrust someone with this task within the company (33%).
