The Hungarian wine industry is getting stronger
All of the country’s features are suitable for producing high-quality wines from the excellent Hungarian grapes – said Dr. Márton Nobilis, the Secretary of State responsible for the food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the ceremonial opening of Fritz Birtok on Thursday in Szekszárd.
The state secretary pointed out that, thanks to the increased funding, in 2021 the Ministry of Agriculture launched a large-scale support program entitled “Renewable countryside, renewable agriculture”, which provides targeted and effective help. One focused on the smaller-scale development of food industry plants, the other on the complex development of food industry plants. Within this framework, the Fritz family also had the opportunity to expand and develop their winery.
Based on the two calls, a decision was made to allocate a total of HUF 217.5 billion in development subsidies
In connection with the call for “Complex Development of Food Industry Plants”, 279 applications have been supported so far, in the amount of more than HUF 207 billion, and in connection with the “Development of Food Industry Plants”, 466 applications have been supported, in the amount of approximately HUF 10.5 billion, he added. Dr. Márton Nobilis recalled that the government provided special assistance to the grape and wine industry during the coronavirus epidemic as well. In 2020 and 2021, a total of approximately HUF 13 billion in support was provided to domestic grape and wine producers in order to mitigate the negative economic effects of the restrictive measures taken to curb the pandemic. He explained that by allowing as many businesses as possible to modernize and become more competitive, the goal of strengthening the strategic position of domestic food production in international competition will be achieved. In all of this work, the agribusiness relies on wine producers like the Fritz family, because the winemakers are excellent at adapting to changes, are pioneers of agricultural innovations, and show the way for the entire Hungarian agribusiness. – highlighted the state secretary.
