Three years forward in one year
According to the latest survey of GKI Digital and Árukereső.hu, domestic e-commerce sales surged by a record 45 percent and reached HUF 909 billion in 2020. The coronavirus pandemic speeded up the digitalisation process and resulted in a 3-year leap forward in this field. In 2020 the biggest winner of this e-commerce boom was the FMCG sector, where sales skyrocketed by more than 65 percent.
The top online retailers started major logistics development projects. It can be said that the biggest winners of the boom in the delivery market were delivery companies, as from delivery types the volume of home deliveries increased the most, while the turnover of pick-up points temporarily dropped due to the lockdown measures. //
