Businesses operating in agriculture, tourism or catering receive support for student work
Even in the severe economic situation caused by the war and the failed sanctions, the government is doing everything to protect families, pensioners, and jobs. Since 2010, the government has been working on achieving full employment and building a work-based economy. Compared to 2010, there are 1 million more people working today, and the number of employed people exceeds 4.7 million – State Secretary for Employment Policy Sándor Czomba said in a statement of the Ministry of Economic Development (GFM) to MTI on Friday.
He pointed out that with these goals in mind, the government has been announcing the Summer Student Work Program with unbroken success for 10 years, for which those eligible can apply for a HUF 3.5 billion budget this summer. The initiative, which has been running since 2013, primarily encourages the vacation employment of high school and university students with wage subsidies, which significantly helps young people gain work experience.
According to the announcement, students between the ages of 16 and 25 who are studying full-time, who are not currently employed, and who do not have a business relationship can apply for the program. Subsidies can be requested by local governments and businesses operating in agriculture, tourism or hospitality. Successful applicants can receive wages related to 6 hours of work per day for a maximum of 2 months.
When determining the subsidy, HUF 222,300 gross per person can be taken into account as a monthly wage for jobs requiring professional qualifications, while HUF 174,000 for jobs without qualifications, the amount of which is proportionally reduced for shorter working hours.
