Thr retail sales increased in the EU in December
Last December, retail sales rose by 0.3 percent in the European Union (EU) and in the euro zone, compared to the previous month – the EU's statistical office, the Eurostat announced Wednesday.
The sales of foods, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products marketed in the EU grew by 0.4 percent, the fuel sales rose by 0.7 percent, while the total turnover of non-food products increased by 0.2 percent.
Among the Member States the retail sales increased the most in IrelandC, with monthly 1.8 percent. Austria was the second with 1.6 percent, followed by Spain and Slovakia with both 1.1 percent. Eurostat measured the largest decrease in turnover in Denmark and in Slovenia (both 1.5 percent). (MTI)
