Attila Nagy, Auchan’s sales director, called it an important goal to put the products of producers in the area of their stores, basically small and medium-sized enterprises, on the shelves of their stores. Currently, each of their stores has about 300 million forints worth of purchases from local producers, and they would like to increase this number by 6-8 times – he indicated to MTI’s interest. Attila Nagy also said that they currently sell about 46 thousand products in their stores, of which food accounts for 86 percent, food produced or produced in Hungary. He added that out of the almost six thousand products with the Hungarian product trademark, 1,200 are distributed, including 126 of their own brand products. They would like to connect the own brand products with the local supplier program that has just been launched, and in the future, small producers could even become national suppliers, he said. He added that a supplier forum will be held at the opening event of the program in Debrecen with the participation of about fifty local producers. The managing director of Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft., which cooperates in the local supplier program, Eszter Benedek, said that they are in contact with 260 companies, whose total revenue is 4,500 billion forints and employ 48,000 people.

These companies produce the six thousand Hungarian product trademarked products, which, according to the results of a thousand-person survey, are very popular among consumers

More than 90 percent of those surveyed know and buy the trademarked products, which are expected to be made from Hungarian raw materials, high-quality, reliable, controlled products, and produced by Hungarian labor – listed Eszter Benedek. Zsolt Papp, president of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), indicated that they support the unique initiative, the cooperation between producers and retailers, because on the one hand it is important for local producers to access new markets, and on the other hand it is also important for consumers to get to know local flavors. He said that NAK has launched a campaign to introduce Hungarian products so that consumers can experience that agriculture is able to serve consumers at home and abroad with high-quality raw materials. In connection with the launch of the program, Attila Nagy confirmed to MTI: the net sales revenue of Auchan Magyarország Kft., which employs 5,400 people, was 366.312 billion forints last year, and 368.639 billion the year before.
