Sándor Czomba: expanding employment contributes to increasing competitiveness
The goal of the six-month Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union is to ensure the increase of European competitiveness by expanding employment, the State Secretary responsible for employment policy of the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) announced on Tuesday in Brussels.
Sándor Czomba, before the meeting of the Employment Social Policy Health and Consumer Protection Council (EPSCO), reminded journalists that the Hungarian EU presidency, which began on July 1st, aimed to maintain and increase competitiveness, in which employment policy has a very important role.
He said that while Hungary was one of the last member states in terms of employment and unemployment data before 2010, it is now among the first seven member states of the European Union. In order to maintain the position and the achieved result, a number of measures are needed that help and expand employment, even though the labor reserves are being depleted – he indicated.
