Sándor Czomba: 26-27 thousand students are expected to participate in this year’s Summer Student Work program
This year, the Ministry of Economic Development expects the participation of about 26,000-27,000 students in the Summer Student Work Program, for which the government has provided HUF 3.5 billion in wage subsidies, Sándor Czomba, the Ministry’s State Secretary for Employment Policy, announced on the M1 current channel on Tuesday morning.
He explained: the provisions of the Labor Code also apply to student work; for eight-hour work, the minimum wage is HUF 232,000 gross, for work requiring a secondary education or professional qualification, at least HUF 296,400.
Due to the tax exemption for those under 25, the gross salary is the same as the net salary – he emphasized.
The Secretary of State radio Kossuth Good morning, Hungary! in his broadcast, he also spoke about the fact that the subsidies can be called upon by local governments and businesses operating in agriculture, tourism or hospitality.
For local governments, state support covers 100 percent of the wage contribution for up to six hours of employment, and in the private sector, companies receive 75 percent of the wage contribution for 8 hours of work.
Special rules apply to student work: young people may not work at night (after 10 p.m.), extraordinary working hours may not be assigned, their daily working hours may not exceed 8 hours, 6 hours for employees under the age of 16, and the employer must ensure a 12-hour rest period. Furthermore, a working time frame of up to 1 week can be used.
