Czerván: less corn is expected to grow this year
This year, less corn is expected to grow. The yield per hectare is below the record level of 2016, the Minister of State of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM) said on Wednesday at a press conference in Budapest.
Czerván György after the Harvest Coordination Committee said that corn is grown on more than 1 million hectare of sowing areas. Up to now, about 92,000 hectares have been harvested. The average yield is about 6.3 tonnes per hectare. On the basis of this, the national average can be between 6.0 and 6.5 tonnes, compared with last year’s record of 8.6 tonnes. (MTI)
