Magazine: CSR Hungary 2021: Good brand, sustainable brand
It was at the end of October that this year’s CSR Hungary Summit conference was organised online. Júlia Takács, founder and managing director of CSR Hungary told in her opening speech that the objective was the same as it was back in 2006, when they started: integrating sustainable practices into the daily operations of companies.
It is time (?)
Dr Bianka Parragh economist, member of the Central Bank of Hungary’s Monetary Council and senior research fellow at the National University of Public Service pointed it out in her presentation: the pandemic showed, the way forward for Hungary is switching to knowledge and technology intensive industries.
Gábor Fodor, head of the Central Europe Political Transitions Institute said we should spend five times more on environmental protection than we do now if we want to be climate neutral by 2050 – approximately EUR 120 billion in the next 30 years.
Szabolcs Tóth, finance and strategy deputy CEO of Waberer’s International Nyrt. discussed how traditional solutions still dominate in transportation and added that those companies that wish to operate sustainably still face many difficulties.
Green strategy is the winner
Róbert Nádasi, CEO of Masterplast Nyrt. talked about the role of insulation in the energy use modernisation of buildings. The company is implementing a green strategy, optimising manufacturing processes, recycling production waste and utilising renewable energy.
Eszter Mihály, CSR manager of the HELL ENERGY Group stressed that water marketed without packaging like their Floewater system is a sustainable solution to the global problem of PET and glass bottles. The company would like others to follow their example with this innovative idea.
Sustainability is a driving force
Zoltán Hornyacsek, head of country communications and sustainability sponsor of Continental Csoport Magyarország explained that their sustainable and responsible business practices improve the company’s innovation capabilities.
Dr Mariann Ritter, CEO and co-founder of iLex Group and COO of iLex-Tungsram Innovációs Piactér spoke about the innovation marketplace they had developed for Hungarian SMEs.
CSR Hungary Award: Responsibility on a daily basis
On 12 October the 2020 and 2021 winners of the CSR Hungary Award programme were announced. This year the award’s chief patron was Attila Steiner, state secretary for the development of circular economy, energy and climate policy of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology. //
