Shrinking orders
Industrial production was down by 0.7 percent in September 2008, compared to September 2007. Industrial export was down by 2.1 percent. Production of the processing industry was down by 1.8 percent, while production of food, beverages and tobacco showed stagnation. New orders recorded by the sectors monitored were down by 4.6 percent in September 2008. Export orders were down by 5.2 percent, while domestic orders were 1.6 percent lower.
