The Czech Republic abolishes the laboratory testing of Polish beef
The Czech Republic will cancel the strict control of Polish beef from midnight after Warsaw has given Prague assurances that it has taken appropriate measures to ensure the quality of meat deliveries, the Czech agriculture minister Miroslav Toman said at an agricultural conference in Prague.
The Czech Ministry of Agriculture announced on 20 February that Polish beef can only be marketed if it is examined by Czech inspectors in their own laboratories. The measure was taken after 700 kilograms of salmonella-infected Polish beef was found in a warehouse in Prague. (Kokes János, MTI)
