Agricultural investment decisions worth almost HUF 15 billion were made
The Government of Hungary supports the Hungarian countryside with all possible means. This is also indicated by the fact that in recent days, the Ministry of Agriculture has made supporting decisions worth HUF 14.75 billion in relation to another 284 applications in connection with the calls announced within the framework of the VP.
The improvements to be implemented mainly concern irrigation and infrastructural investments of farms. Irrigation development is of decisive importance in maintaining the safety of production and in the cultivation of crops with high added value. This was helped by the call for tenders supporting irrigation development, within the framework of which new projects have now received support, as a decision was made to award approximately HUF 6.5 billion. It enables irrigation activities with economies of scale and results in a more efficient use of water resources if farmers jointly and cooperatively develop irrigation capacities. This is encouraged by the call to support the cooperation of irrigation communities, in connection with which another 10 communities will receive almost HUF 750 million. In recent years, the Hungarian government has also paid special attention to the catch-up of homestead areas, contributing both from national and EU sources to the improvement of the quality of life of the population living on homesteads and the population retention capacity of the countryside. More than HUF 1 billion worth of new decisions have also been made within the framework of the call for tenders supporting the development of household-scale electricity and water supply, as well as wastewater treatment. Beneficiaries will soon receive supporting documents in connection with all three tenders. In 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture will continue its key agricultural and processing investment program for rural
