The need to renew Hungarian agriculture and the food industry is not a question. However, there are several ideas as to what are the biggest weaknesses in the sector and how these could be addressed. Strengthening the food sector requires, among other things, a kind of “new deal” that should not only name the sector’s problems, but also offer a ready-made solution.

The Hungarian food industry needs to be renewed, no one disputes that. Rather, the question is how, this could be achieved, what steps, comprehensive reforms are needed to strengthen the sector.
