On March 10–11, career anxiety will receive therapy: nearly 100 companies, starting salary ranges ranging from 600 thousand to 1.5 million forints gross, and real conversations await students at the spring Technical University Job Fair, where questions will finally be answered.

While the number of students in higher education is decreasing nationwide, the decline at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics is much smaller. The 244-year-old institution continues to provide a stable, predictable foundation for young people – this is reflected in the 2026 Technical University Job Fair.

Students today are not only looking for professional knowledge, but also for specific answers: what skills matter, what salary requirements are realistic, what they can build on as a career starter. Based on the feedback, the starting salaries clearly indicate that technical and technological knowledge continues to be a strong value in the labor market: a bachelor’s degree typically leads to a gross salary of 600–900 thousand forints, while a master’s degree – depending on the training – can be expected to earn a gross salary of between 800 thousand and 1.5 million forints.

“Uncertainty is a natural part of starting a career, but if students come to the Job Fair, ask questions, get information, and meet companies, this feeling becomes manageable and controllable”

– emphasized Balázs Orbán, the main organizer of the event.

The Technical University has always reacted sensitively to economic changes: its newly launched training programs, student composition (15% international students) and its corporate connections serve as a kind of “litmus test” to show where the Hungarian economy is headed. A tangible sign of this is the launch of market-oriented training courses in recent years, such as medical engineering or economic informatics.

Although many career events have moved to the online space or have ceased altogether, the University of Technology still believes in the power of personal meetings. Nearly 100 exhibitors, professional presentations and direct conversation opportunities await students at the spring job fair.

Preparation is also supported before the event by the bmejob.hu platform, where companies can upload an unlimited number of job advertisements.

The organizers aim to have as many students as possible register for the event – this also shows that young people are open, ask questions and actively seek their opportunities. The Technical University Job Exchange provides support in this: it does not provide ready-made answers, but helps you find your way. And this is one of the biggest factors that gives a sense of security today.
