The Michelin-recommended Laurel Restaurant in Budapest is closing
Laurel Budapest, a popular restaurant recommended by Michelin, is closing after five years of operation. The news appeared on the restaurant’s official Facebook page, where the team announced that those who want to experience Laurel’s unique gastronomic experience can still reserve a table until July 28.
Over the past years, the restaurant’s team has faced many challenges and undergone significant development. Laurel remained afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic, when hundreds of gourmet boxes were packed and delivered to homes, and they also operated as an apartment restaurant. They took part in many festivals and gastronomic adventures in Transylvania, and created their sister restaurant, Csopaki Resti. Sometimes they also operated as pastry shops, which further enriched their range and range of activities.
According to the restaurant’s announcement, the decision was made with a heavy heart. “…although with a heavy heart, we have decided that the story of Laurel here in Kertész utca will now end,” the post reads. According to the team, they did everything they could get out of the restaurant, and now they are opening a new chapter in hospitality.
Although Laurel’s closing surprised and saddened many, the owners are working on new plans. According to their promise, they will soon provide news about their new plans in hospitality. “Because we still have plans and dreams waiting to be realized,” they added.
