Summer seasonal jobs have started
With the approach of summer, the time for seasonal jobs has also arrived: during this period, the number of casual work opportunities increases several times. Due to the tax benefits and simple official notification, simplified employment is particularly popular among employers at this time, however, many are not aware of the pitfalls of its application. And if the companies do not comply with the legal requirements, they can hit their ankles, but the question arises from the employees’ side: is it possible to work 8 more hours in the summer period with a simplified employment contract in addition to a full-time job of 40 hours per week? And if so, what should you pay attention to as an EFO? Do EFO workers really not receive an employment contract and are not entitled to sick pay?
The Human Centrum HR service company group has compiled the information for the 2024 summer season. Atypical forms of employment are often used for occasional, seasonal jobs – including, for example, simplified employment – in the fields of tourism, hospitality, construction, agriculture, food industry and trade. “For this, a fixed-term employment contract can be concluded for a short period of time, but it is significantly more favorable for both parties if it is solved in the framework of simplified employment, because in addition to the significant reduction in administrative burdens, they can count on financially more favorable conditions,” emphasizes Dénes Rajmund Roland, Human Centrum its director. He then adds: on the other hand, it is not worth it for the employer to “enforce” the employee if he can also employ the employee as a pensioner or student.
