Beiersdorf now also produces in Leipzig
The first cosmetic products are rolling off the production line at Beiersdorf’s newly built plant in Leipzig. The Hamburg-based consumer goods manufacturer says it has invested almost 300 million euros in the site in Leipzig-Seehausen.
From now on, deodorants, hair sprays and shaving foams under the Nivea, 8×4 and Hidrofugal brands will be manufactured in Leipzig for the entire European market, the Dax Group told. The new construction of the modern production center, together with the logistics hub being built next door, is the world’s largest investment at one single site to date, it said.
Harald Emberger, member of the Executive Committee and Corporate Senior Vice President Supply Chain, explained, “With our production center in Leipzig, we are creating the capacity for long-term, sustainable growth of our brands in Europe and set new standards in the manufacture of cosmetic products. Through state-of-the-art manufacturing technology with fully automated and digitalized processes, we have nearly doubled productivity levels while production at this site is more sustainable than ever before.”
