Danone sources whey from Asia
France’s Danone is buying more whey and aluminium from certain parts of Asia, and analysts say this move can cut costs but also annoy European suppliers. So far the dairy giant has largely relied on Europe for raw materials, but as a reaction to cost inflation, Danone expanded its commodities base into Asian countries such as India, China and Southeast Asia.
