Poultry prices have risen in the EU and in Hungary
According to AKI slaughter statistics, 348.6 thousand tons (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first half of 2025, 4.5 percent less than between January and June 2024; of this, broiler chickens accounted for 278.4 thousand tons (+7.2 percent), and broiler turkeys accounted for 35.6 thousand tons (+2.7 percent).

According to European Commission data, the EU average price of whole chickens was 290 euros/100 kilograms in the first thirty-four weeks of 2025, which was 8 percent higher than the previous year. According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chicken in Hungary increased by 6.9 percent to 443.2 HUF/kilogram, and that of slaughter turkey by 7.8 percent to 638.0 HUF/kilogram in the first thirty-four weeks of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing sales price of chicken breast fillet was 1989.5 HUF/kilogram (+14.2 percent), chicken breast with bone was 1265.3 HUF/kilogram (+10.2 percent), chicken breast (total) was 1908.4 HUF/kilogram (+11.2 percent), and chicken leg was 910.6 HUF/kilogram (+3.1 percent) in the observed period.
