New energy efficiency labels came into effect in March, but these are less well known to consumers, so they don’t trust the new labels. For example, they are afraid of D-labeled home appliances, although they may be the best available in a given category. The Conscious Consumers Association has summarized the first experiences of the new era of energy labeling.

Better information would make the transition easier

In parallel with the new label regulation, the consumption values have also been modified, ie an earlier A +++ machine can receive a C or D rating in the new system. In practice, this also means that for some machines, there is not even one on the market that deserves either a B or A rating. This is because the regulations are forward-looking, that is, they have deliberately “left room” for even lower-power machines that will be launched in the future as technology advances.
