The IKSZ supports the bill prohibiting the sale of energy drinks to under-18s
The Youth Christian Democratic Union (IKSZ) supports the bill prohibiting the sale of energy drinks to under-18s, which was submitted to the Parliament by KDNP politicians Lőrinc Nacsa and István Hollik.
Gábor Halmay, the executive vice-president of the IKSZ, announced at a press conference in Veszprém on Friday: the bill on the preservation of children’s health means in practice that the sale of energy drinks to young people under the age of 18 would be prohibited, in the same way as alcohol and tobacco products, and sexual products.
The IKSZ considers it worrisome that young people in secondary and primary school can consume trendy caffeine-containing energy drinks on a daily basis and in unlimited quantities – said Gábor Halmay, who called the bill a gap-filler.
